WHO IS PYWC?

The Palmyra Youth Wrestling Club was founded in 2016 to give the youth of Palmyra an opportunity to enrich their lives with the sport of wrestling. The sport is only offered through the public school system at the high school level, PYWC was formed to fill in the gap. Kids from Palmyra and surrounding communities experience wrestling in their hometown, but also have the opportunity to travel and experience much bigger state wide tournaments.

During the 2024/2025 season PYWC had 74 wrestlers competing in numerous tournaments throughout the season. Wrestlers work hard in the wrestling room 2-4 nights a week and wrestle tournaments on the weekends to prepare themselves for the state series at the end of the season. PYWC took 38 members 7 years and older to the district 7 tournament with 27 PYWC qualifying for the 2024 Missouri USA State Championships, 12 of them as District Champions.

During the Open State series we had 8 wrestlers make the podium. Cooper Nicholson and Finn Heimer reached the finals in their MOUSA state debut, Cooper walking away a Champion and Finn with a hard fought 2nd place. Kenyu Neiswender and Cael Wilt finsihed in 4th place, Aidyn Bryant and Eli Sutter in 5th place and Ryken Hedgpeth and Behrett Lorenson in 6th.

Missouri also offers a girls state competition in which PYWC had 7 members bring home some hardware. Three of those girls claimed their spot at the top of the podium and took home first place Ava Rife, Kinsley Rife and Brynlea Lahr. Braelynn Morris and Zoe Corum finished in 2nd place, Tayleigh Robertson in 4th and, Zoey Eisenberg in 6th.

PYWC coaches, board of directors and parents are as always beyond proud of our athletes and their hard work and dedication to the sport of wrestling. The 24/25 season was a great one and we are ready to make our TENTH season even better!

THE LEGEND CONTINUES

PYWC offers youth wrestling for children ages 5-14 after which local wrestlers have the opportunity to wrestle for Palmyra High School. Since the programs conception in 2016, PHS has won 5 state championships and brought home 11 state 2nd thru 5th place medals. We are honored to have so many former PYWC members qualify and represent PHS at the MSHSAA state championships over the last 8 seasons!

In 2018 Ross Arch became the first PHS wrestler to win a state medal, in the program's second season. Then in 2019 he was the first to win a State Championship.

In 2023 Ellyse Lorenson became the first PHS female to medal in the State Tournament. She advanced to the finals and placed second.

Also in 2023 Collin Arch won his 4th State Championship making him one of 37 in the state at the time to do so. Collin wrapped up his high school career 160-1 before moving on to wrestle at the collegiate level at Northern Illinois University. Not only a week after his HS season ended Colin was back on the mats coaching our youth through the end of their season. Our program owes so much to the Arch family, they laid the ground work for PYWC and the High School organization we hope to honor them by raising the next generation to bring many more championships to PHS.

In 2025 Brayden Pillars became another PYWC Alumni to reach the state finals, finishing as the 2025 State Runner up in preparation for furthering his wrestling at the collegiate level at Cornell College.
